What is the difference between soffit and fascia?

The fascia is the board that runs along the edge of the roof, where the gutters are attached. The soffit is the panel under the roof overhang, between the fascia and the wall. Vented soffit also lets air into the attic, which is part of your roof ventilation.

Why is my fascia rotting?

The most common cause is water from clogged or overflowing gutters, ice dams or a missing drip edge soaking the wood behind the gutter. If the cause is not fixed at the same time, new wood fascia will rot again.

Can you wrap fascia in aluminum?

Yes. After we replace any rotted wood, we can wrap the fascia in aluminum coil or install vinyl fascia so it never needs painting. We usually recommend this together with checking the gutters and drip edge above it.
